Apple's new version of macOS rolls over: external graphics card performance drops by 94%

Today, Apple pushed the official macOS 12.3 update to the Mac, which brings users a number of improvements such as Universal Control.

However, according to a report by Apple Insider, some users reported that after their Mac was updated to a new version, the external graphics card that was normally used did not work properly.

Some users said that they purchased the AMD W6800X as an external graphics card for Mac, but after updating macOS 12.3, the performance of the graphics card is not even as strong as the integrated display performance that comes with the Mac, which dropped by as much as 94% in the benchmark test.

It is worth mentioning that the external graphics card problem in the macOS 12.3 version does not seem to be a "new problem".

In the previous beta version, some Mac users said that after they upgraded the new beta system, the external graphics card could not be used normally, but this problem did not seem to be officially discovered by Apple.

At present, Apple has not officially responded to the "rollover" problem of macOS 12.3. Users who need an external graphics card are advised to wait for the patch to be pushed before updating the system.
